The Patawa falls, also known as the Diamant falls, are located in Roura, French Guiana, a few kilometres from the Fourgassier falls. They are reached after a hike of approximately 40 minutes. The natural site is described as well-preserved and clean, with the exception of a few engravings on the rocks.
The trail to the falls is accessible to all. The outward journey is downhill, making the walk easy on arrival. The return, which is uphill, requires a little more effort for those who are less fit. The natural setting invites relaxation by the water, in a fragile environment that should be respected by leaving no trace.
Head to Roura and take the D6 road towards Kaw. Drive to camp Caiman, then continue for 8 km to the start of the forest track on your right. The D6 43 sign serves as a landmark: the track is a few metres further on the right. If coming from the Fourgassier falls, drive 23 km to find the track on your right. Do not go past camp Patawa — the track is a few metres before it. The track leads to a stream below, then continues to the right following the watercourse.
