YUNAE is the work of artist Bassa. It is his first piece executed with aerosol spray paint, inspired by the Voodoo deity Erzulie.
It depicts a Kalin'a indigenous woman breastfeeding a Black baby — a nurturing and warrior figure holding a sabre, symbolising the power of the feminine matrix and the bond between Africa and French Guiana.
It is visible on the façade of a building on Avenue de l'Université Harvard in Cayenne, French Guiana.
