L'habitation Vidal : Un Site Historique de la Guyane

The trail is 3.5 km long, on mostly flat terrain with a few gentle inclines, shaded throughout by the humid tropical forest.

The trailhead is at the car park by Stade Edmar Lama, next to Lycée Léon Gontran Damas in Rémire-Montjoly.

A former 18th-century sugar estate, it was the site of the first steam engine installed in French Guiana in 1822, and was officially classified as a historic monument in 1999.

You can discover the plantation ruins, including the sugarcane mill, the residential buildings, and traces of the period of slavery.
