The church was built between 1928 and 1937 to designs by Father Leroy, in reinforced concrete in a neo-Gothic style. It has been a listed historic monument since 1997.
The bell tower is 56 metres tall. It is the most prominent feature of the church: octagonal in shape and topped with a spire.
The interior is richly decorated: stained-glass windows depict scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary, and the chancel houses a large statue of the Virgin as well as a 30-stop organ.
The church is located on Avenue Constantin Verderosa in the town of Sinnamary, French Guiana.
